NUS & UNIPOL Student Accommodation Costs Survey
Every 3 years Unipol Student Homes and the National Union of Students undertake the Accommodation Costs Survey, a major snapshot survey of the cost and type of purpose built student accommodation in the UK.
The 2014 - 2016 survey is available to download from the Unipol website - Click Here
This time the survey covered 333,956 bed spaces, estimated at 66 per cent of the entire sector and looked at areas including:
- Rents
- Regional variations
- Changes to the type of accommodation on offer
- Other charges such as deposits and signing fees
- The difference between universities and private sector providers.
The Accommodation Costs Survey has been running for 33 years and in that time has consistently tracked movements in a sector which has changed beyond all recognition.
The report gives readers the facts and although it comes with some comment and recommendations, the facts themselves are presented free from speculation or spin.
The report is not written by a developers’ consortium or market analysts with a big stake in the sector. In making this information available, the report authors hope that the outputs of the survey exercise contribute to a better deal for students, a more positive educational experience and a better informed set of suppliers providing the right product in the right place at the right price.
