London - Tower Hamlets

    • About London - Tower Hamlets

Traditionally one of the poorer areas of central London, Tower Hamlets is a borough of contrast, enjoying a gritty East End personality, complimented by the power and dominance of the Docklands high rise skyscrapers.

Taking its name from the famous Tower of London that sits on its borders, there are some great markets for bargain hunters, including the hundred year old Columbia Road Flower Market. The prosperous The Docklands are unlikely to be home to many students, with the ‘alternative square mile’ housing some of the most famous companies and investment centres in the UK, including the iconic Canary Wharf. Further afield Bethnal Green, Millwall and Mile End offer more affordable housing, but a degree of caution and street smarts are needed in some areas.
