    • About Lisbon

When you consider the sleek modern infrastructure, a reputation for being one of the safest cities in the world, it is easy to understand why so many students are favoring Lisbon as their overseas study destination

With a vibrant atmosphere, unique opportunities, favourable weather and pretty much everything else, it takes even less to understand why students are so quick to fall in love with the Portuguese capital.

Renowned for being the second oldest city in Europe, Lisbon is situated at the mouth of the River Tagus and interestingly, this strategic location established the capital as a major port city long before the inception of ancient Rome. From Belem Tower and the enchanting Sao Jorge Castle to Palace de Queluz and Carmo Convent, there are medieval remnants at every turn but then there is also a very modern and cosmopolitan vibe throughout the city. In many ways, this is what can make Lisbon such an exciting destination to study, for the city is home to every modern comfort while still retaining the colorful facades and traditions of the past.

Another reason why students are so enamoured with study in Lisbon can be found in the exchange and research facilities which are also known as some of the best in Europe. Featuring an impressive support network and a very social environment, these institutions offer a comprehensive learning experience in a near-perfect environment. Furthermore, the supportive nature of these facilities such as Nova University of Lisbon nor the Catholic University of Lisbon ensure the process of meeting new people and fellow students is effortless at the very least.

With the above in mind, there is much more to studying in Lisbon and the social aspect of life in this vibrant city is an enticing prospect for students.

Far from the lectures and busy corridors of learning, Lisbon provides many opportunities to feel immersed in local culture and while the locals are renowned for their friendliness, the wide array of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops are inviting in every way. And then there are the shows, festivals and busy markets of Lisbon which never fail to delight visitors with a certain energy that feels almost contagious as a young student exploring an exotic part of the world.

And then there is the great outdoors which offers another side to the city and the study perfect escape, for it is here you can ride a bicycle next to the River Tagus and relax on a nearby beach before venturing into a luscious park to explore one of the many green zones in the capital. In fact, there are endless ways to enjoy this side of Lisbon with football, tennis, surfing, jogging and even horse riding, commonplace in various parts of the city.

Studying in Lisbon is an exciting prospect, with the favourable climate, low cost of living, fado music, cultured people and thriving art scene in what is undoubtedly one of the most cultured cities anywhere in the world.
