About London - Greenwich
Not content with having its name universally known as the place where all time zones are measured from, Greenwich managed to grab the world’s attention yet again in the year 2000 by being home to the infamously expensive millennium dome, now called the 02 arena the venue hosts massive events and festivals.
Despite all this, generally Greenwich is a fairly quiet, attractive place, with the Greenwich Observatory and surrounding Greenwich Park offering peace and tranquillity only a few miles from the manic goings on across the river in the City. Antique markets and comfortably quaint pubs are commonplace, as well as the Cutty Sark, exhibiting the area’s maritime history just as well as any exhibit in the nearby National Maritime Museum.
