About Northumbria University Newcastle
Newcastle is the place to be a student.
There are around 40,000 students in Newcastle which means that around one in seven of the population here is a student. Northumbria is located right in the heart of the city - which means you benefit from all the facilities the city has to offer, from nightlife to shopping, from culture to sport, Newcastle has everything you could possibly want.
The City has always been famous for its nightlife - in fact it's been voted the 8th Top City for Night Life... in the world! With 40,000 lively students plus tens of thousands of other young people, if you want to party, this is the place to be. But we also have mind-broadening culture - as you'd expect from such a city that never stops, Newcastle is packed with culture - several theatres, the oldest 'arty' cinema outside London, classical music, opera and dance, and art galleries to please all tastes.
If it's shopping your after then the campus is only a few minutes walk away from Northumberland Street and Eldon Square, the main shopping district of Newcastle, or you can hop on a bus to the Metro Centre, the largest shopping and leisure centre in the UK - and in Europe.
And when you feel the need to get away from it all there are golden beaches, wild moorland, beautiful woodland, enough Roman artifacts to satisfy the most dedicated historian, the biggest man-made lake in Europe plus more castles than any other county in the UK - and all within an hour's travel from the city..
