    • About Leicester

Slap bang in the middle of the country is the culture clash that is the bustling city of Leicester.

Producing some of the finest restaurants, festivals and (of course) curry houses in the country, with thankfully very little of the trouble seen in similar cities, Leicester sits right on the north/south divide.

Academically Leicester is home to a large student population, most studying at the University of Leicester or De Montfort University. Both have very good reputations. With a history in textiles, shopping in Leicester meets expectations for a city of its size – but many still take the short train trip to city neighbour Nottingham for its superior range of designer boutiques and bigger superstores.

Leicester’s nightlife satisfies all but the hardest to please, with clubs getting well known DJs and rave reviews in the clubbing press. Whether you want cheap drinks and cheese or dirty beats and bass, there’s a venue for most... and normally a hefty queue, so try to be early.
