About Coventry
In a city famed for naked women parading the streets, its little surprise Coventry University proves a popular choice when filling out them UCAS forms.
With a healthy supply of bursaries and welfare assistance for those deemed worthy, the uni is conscious to help its students in both the academic and real worlds. Students coming to Coventry have a decent choice for nights out (if not spectacular), and only those who party 24/7 will be left a bit disappointed.
The Cathedral quarter houses plenty of posing bars for the pretentious, while chain pubs and SU bars offer cheap drinks. Coventry is well known as a car city, with BMW and Rolls Royce locating their UK headquarters here, and the uni has very good relationships with major manufacturers.
The city’s facing a massive regeneration campaign, with billions of pounds going to rejuvenating the uglier side of the quick builds that followed the WWII bombings and destruction. As for the naked lady, legend has it lady Godiva rode the streets of Cov’ on a horse as a bet – thus guaranteeing the townsfolk a smaller tax rate. That’s what we call taking one for the team. If you choose to recreate it in similar fashion, be aware of the hefty fine public nudity carries these days!
