Aberystwyth University

About Aberystwyth University

Aberystwyth is a beautiful and bustling seaside town that sits on the west coast of mid Wales. In 2015, Aberystwyth was officially crowned the UK’s “Greatest Town” at the prestigious Academy of Urbanism Awards, recognising the fantastic community here.

During term time, the town’s population of just over 13,000 is boosted by almost 8,000 students, creating a busy and cosmopolitan environment within an area of outstanding beauty. Aberystwyth is also a very safe and secure place to be, recognised as the safest place to study in Wales, and one of the safest in the UK.

Aberystwyth not only offers a fantastic education but also an unbeaten quality of life. You can enjoy living within a peaceful, beautiful environment nestled between the mountains and sea, but within a town that is a busy, thriving cosmopolitan student hub.

With a wealth of restaurants, cafés, and a lively nightlife, Aberystwyth has something for everyone and is very much geared towards student life. The University’s Penglais campus is located on a hill that overlooks the beautiful unspoilt scenery of Cardigan Bay, and a convenient 5 -10 minute walk from the town centre.
